Royal Engineer Office, Hongkong, May 5th, 1889.

With reference to the letter of the Under Secretary of State for War, dated 10th March 1883, and forwarded to His Excellency the Governor, I have the honour to report that some of the surveys mentioned have already been taken in hand by the Royal Engineer Department. Of the several sites specified, Stonecutter West and Quarry Point have been surveyed and contoured at vertical intervals
